Pancreatic Concerns We Commonly Treat

The pancreas is a large gland in the abdomen that plays a crucial role in digestion and blood sugar regulation.

When the pancreas isn’t working properly, a variety of symptoms can occur — some mild, others more serious. Here are some of the most common pancreatic conditions to be aware of:
1
Pancreatic Cancer
Often silent in early stages, this aggressive cancer typically requires timely surgical intervention.
2
Pancreatitis
Inflammation of the pancreas that may be acute or chronic, often causing abdominal pain and digestive issues.
3
Pancreatic Cysts
Fluid-filled sacs that are usually benign but may require removal depending on their type and size.

What Symptoms
Should You Look Out For?

You should consult a pancreas specialist if you experience:
Unexplained loss of weight or appetite
Persistent upper abdominal or back pain
Changes in stool or urine colour
Nausea and vomiting
Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)

Should You Be Worried About Pancreatic Cancer?

Pancreatic cancer is often called a “silent disease” because it may not cause symptoms until it is more advanced. Fortunately, early detection can significantly improve outcomes.

This is why it is important to be aware of the risk factors. You may be at higher risk if you:
Have chronic pancreatitis
Have type 2 diabetes
Have a family history of pancreatic or related cancers
Have a history of heavy alcohol use
Are a smoker

If you fall into one or more of these categories, early assessment can make a meaningful difference.

Speak with a pancreatic cancer specialist to better understand your risk and take proactive steps forward.
